Brief Biography

Dr Qiteng Hong is currently a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) at the University of Strathclyde. His main research focus is on novel solutions for monitoring, protection and control of power systems dominated by renewable generation. Dr Hong has successfully led/been involved with 27 research and KE projects, and secured over £4M($5.36M) as Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-Investigator (Co-I), among which he is the PI for 19 projects with total funding of £1.13M ($1.51M). In total, he has 58 high-quality publications with 23 journal 35 conference publications.  He is currently leading a team of 10 researchers, with 4 PhD students, 4 research assistants/associates and 2 visiting scholars. He has been involved with the development and delivery of teaching for 4 undergraduate and postgraduate classes at Strathclyde, 3 modules in Chinese universities (North China Electric Power University and Shanghai University of Electrical Power) and 1 module in Strathclyde’s two centres for doctoral training (CDTs). He is also the main developer for four prototype software tools, with the SGMVP online open platform being the first of its kind in the UK, attracting 12k+ visits from 42 countries per year. He is a regular reviewer for 16 leading international journals, and a guest editor for the Energies journal in the special issue on Protection of Future Electricity Systems.
